Hana Hashimoto, Sixth Violin, by Chieri Uegaki

Hana’s Ojiichan (grandfather) plays beautiful violin. Inspired by him, Hana wants to play the violin for her school talent show. However, she’s not as good as her grandfather. Hana imagines Ojiichan cheering for her as she overcomes her stage fright and plays violin her way on the stage.


Juna’s Jar, by Jane Bahk

Lubna, a young refugee, finds a pebble that becomes her best friend. Pebble listens to all of Lubna’s problems until it’s time for him to help a new friend when Lubna leaves. A good starting off point to talk about refugees with children.
